Lake
Practice is managed by Margaret Stephens, Lic Ac, MBAcC, BA (Hons), BSc
(Hons), SRN, SCM. I provide Five Element
Acupuncture, an
ancient
and gentle
complementary therapy, to people in Leamington Spa, Warwick and
Warwickshire.
My treatment room is
comfortable and
relaxing and
on the ground
floor. I observe all the safety and sterile procedures
stipulated by The British Acupuncture Council
and carry full
professional and public
indemnity
insurance. The practice has
free parking nearby, is on the G1
bus
route through north
Leamington or is a short walk from Leamington town
centre.
Home
visits are available by arrangement if you have a condition
that makes
traveling difficult.
Opening
Hours
Monday and
Saturday - 08:30 until 5pm
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - 08:30 until 7pm
Tuesday and Sunday - Closed
Home visits during the above hours by appointment
Five
Element Acupuncture treatments are gentle and holistic. This
branch of
acupuncture is closely related to the natural world
of changing
seasons,
changing day lengths and the effect these changes have on all
life on earth. The
patient is always placed
at the centre of each treatment
with
treatments carried out to suit the individual
constitution of each person. My
aim is to
restore your natural balance which has
been lost at some time thus
letting disease get a foothold in the body.
I am happy to
discuss any health problem with you at a free
20
-
30 minute visit or on the telephone if this is more
convenient.
During the
first treatment there is always plenty of time to
discuss your
current and past health problems in detail. This
first treatment
lasts for 90 minutes or a little longer so please allow time for this
when
booking
in. It helps my Traditional Chinese Diagnosis
if you
arrive free from
scented toiletry products and from facial cosmetics. After taking
a full history I
perform a Chinese
Medicine physical examination, take your blood
pressure then begin to
treat you using acupuncture needles.
All
of my
needles
are sterile, disposable and packaged for single use. During
needling you may feel a dull ache or a tingling sensation
but many
people
feel nothing at all.
What
conditions can acupuncture help with?
The
British
Acupuncture Council website has Research Fact Sheets with recent
experimental results to help you decide if
acupuncture
might help you.
Click on the link below and choose the 'A to
Z'
box at the bottom right corner then click
on a topic from the list to
read about
conventional treatments. Use the 'Evidence' box
above
the main text to read about
acupuncture interventions and their success
rates.

What if I don't like
needles?
If
you do not
like the idea of needles I can use a Piezo-Quartz point stimulator or
tuning forks of a specific frequency on
your acupuncture
points. You might prefer acupressure from a finger tip or
from a
round ended probe.

Who has Acupuncture?
Acupuncture
is
usually suitable for all adults, teenagers, children, babies,
the
elderly, pregnant women and couples
trying to conceive.
My careful history taking and physical examination helps to
ensure your
safety and if I find any
health problem which contraindicates acupuncture
I will
advise you accordingly at no cost to yourself.
